Collections of Early Documents

    • Bulletin of the Bureau of Rolls and Library
      og the Department of State
      Bulletin No. i, issued September, 1893, contains (1) a catalogue ex- 
      hibiting the existing arrangement of the papers of the Continental 
      Congress; (2) a partial miscellaneous index of manuscripts of the 
      Continental Congress examined to the date of going to press ; (3) 
      the Documentary History of the Constitution for the period pre- 
      ceding the Convention Federal being the Annapolis Convention 
      and credentials of delegates to the Federal Convention. 
      
      Bulletin No. 2, issued November, 1893, is a revised and indexed 
      edition of the Calendar of the Correspondence of James Monroe. 
      
      Bulletin No. 3, issued January, 1894, contains (1) a list indicating the 
      arrangement of the Washington papers; (2) the continuation of a 
      partial miscellaneous index of the manuscripts of the Continental 
      Congress; (3) the Documentary History of Constitution the pro- 
      ceedings of the Federal Convention. 
      
      Bulletin No. 4, issued March, 1894, is a calendar of the correspond- 
      ence of James Madison. 
      
      
      Imprint dates: v. 1-2, 1894; v. 3, 1900
      
      Vols. I-III were published originally in parts, as Appendixes I-V of "Bulletin of the Bureau of Rolls and Library", no. 1, 3, 5, 7 and 9, 1893-97 (no. 9 issued 1900)
      
      They were reprinted, according to a concurrent resolution passed by the Senate January 24, 1901, and by the House of Representatives February 9, 1901, and issued in a bureau edition and also in the Congressional series, as House doc. 529, 56th Cong., 2d sess
      
      Vol. III has an appendix (not included in the original edition) "Additional notes by Madison for the introduction to his notes of debates in the Federal convention" (p. 796a-796o); also, a "Special index" (p. 797-904)
      
      Vols. IV-V were published as "Bulletin of the Bureau of Rolls and Library", no. 11, pt. 1-2. In this issue the title-pages of the "Bulletin" are omitted
